Le Chateau d'Isenbourg

The Alsace Route du Vin meanders for 150 kilometers through picturesque vineyards and fairy tale villages of cobbled streets, timber framed houses and medieval church towers. It is not a journey to be rushed but slowly, savoured as one relishes the finer qualities of the wines that come from this region. At the southern end of the route is Rouffach and, overlooking it, is Château d'Isenbourg. The château, built over ancient vaulted wine cellars, stands imperiously on the slopes of the Vosges and, from the terrace, one looks across the Rhine Valley to the Black Forest. In contrast to the rustic charm of the nearby towns and villages, the château is a majestic residence. Great bedrooms richly furnished and decorated, superb facilities for relaxation and two dining rooms promise an indulgence level worthy of the confessional! Where there is good wine, there is also good food and at Château d'Isenbourg you will find both aplenty.
